The perfect way to take you chess game on the road! The Drueke travel chess set includes a tough plastic case and metal playing surface that make it basically indestructible. Not only are the pieces highly magnetic, but they are also short enough to fit under the lid while still saving the position. Give the box a shake or tuck it away in your pack, the pieces will hold their position.

Comment: This is, in fact, a travel set, as represented, and fine for that purpose. However, I was disappointed in its size for general play...way smaller than appeared in the ads, etc. The pieces are relatively tiny, I just didn't take that enough into consideration....otherwise a great travel set!

Comment: I purchased this item based on the wonderful, glowing reviews that this item had received. It is of the most ridiculous quality that you could imagine. The cheap plastic pieces are too small to be usable, bishops cannot be differentiated from pawns, queens look like rooks, all the pieces have plastic tags hanging on them, the magnets on the bottom are broken on half the pieces, the bottoms have plastic tags that will not let the pieces sit properly. The pieces are too big for the tiny squares of the board. The quality that is spoken of so much in the other reviews is absolutely not to be found in any part of this item. Within ten minutes of opening this junk, I had printed out my Return Authorization and Mailing Label and cannot wait to get this junk away from me. I hate it so much. Buy anything but this junk.

Comment: the magnetic board is great for study-use on a sloping draft-table.i prefer to use the pieces from an excalibur E714 set,as these have magnets sealed into the base of each one.(these pieces are too tall to be covered for transport.) the pieces that come with the druek set are some sort of trashy round magnets loosly skewered by a projection from the plastic base.think of this purchase as a decent magnetic board/case with "free" junk pieces tossed in.

Comment: We take this little chess board with us everywhere! It's perfectly designed for the traveler and those who want to take chess on the go. The pieces stay PUT! Slap on the lid, tuck it in your backpack and your ready to go. This is far superior to other magnetic chess games.
The game pieces are nice quality and the game itself is well made. We are very pleased with this purchase & it gets a lot of use.
Highly recommend. It will not disappoint!

Summary: PERFECT TRAVEL SET
Comment: Perfect size (not too small and not too big).
Plastic cover is stronger than I expected.
Board is very nice (black and gold metal).
Pieces have large base and magnet which keeps them firmly in place.
Magnet is donut shaped with plastic from piece extending though the middle of the magnet. This allows for a tight and strong "grip" of the magnet to the piece.
I noticed that on some of my pieces, the plastic protruded too far through the hole in the magnet, which made piece "wobble" on board. It took about two minutes to file all pieces so protruding plastic was flush with the magnet on the bottom and the pieces all "sat" perfectly on the board.
Another great feature is that the magnets are powerful enough that you can leave a game or study session in progress and simply place the cover back on "box" and pieces don't move. When you want to use again, all the pieces are right where you left them. I really works quite well.
I highly recommend this set to anyone looking for a convenient magnetic set for study or travel. It is very well designed and made. I was quite impressed and pleasantly surprised.
