The Bodhran is the traditional Celtic drum that provides the vital pulse of Celtic music even in modern times. The Grover-Trophy bodhran stays true to the time-honored build. It is played with a double beater that allows one hand to produce complex rhythms, while the other hand adds tonal expression by muting or applying tension to the inside surface of the head....

Customer Rating: Summary: For the price, it is a great Bodhran Comment: For the price, it is a great Bodhran (Boy, Irish is certainly not a phonetic language). If you are playing a lot of public sessions, this in not the one for you. You would want a tunable one. But it has a nice feel, good voice (or sound). It also comes with a tipper (beater) with a comfortable and useful "ridge" that is off center. For beginners this is helpful. When professional Bodhrans go from $300 - $3,000, this is a great buy. Customer Rating: Summary: Large Bodhran - beautifully made Comment: I was surprised at the size of this Bodhran and how well it is made. The cost is affordable and the product was here in days. I am very pleased. Customer Rating: Summary: Good Starter Bodhran Comment: This is a good starter bodhran the workmanship is ok the drum has a nice sound Customer Rating: Summary: Great deep sound. Comment: First the sound is great. Deep and mellow. But tight enough for rapid cadence. Very little ring. Good tight thump. The workmanship in the frame is only so-so but you will forget about fit and finish when you hear the rumble. Be careful and keep the head dry and it should last quite a while. The goat skin head isn't as durable as synthetic but it sounds much better. Certainly worth the price. Customer Rating: Summary: A pleasant surprise Comment: For the money, this was a pleasant surprise. It has a great sound. I shared it with a couple of celtic musicians who commented on the great sound.
