Introduced in 1792, the original 4711 was first made in Germany by Ferdinand Muelhens. A wonderfully refreshing citrus-based fragrance, 4711 warms to a light floral-woody base. Made with world's finest essential oils, including sandalwood from India, attar of roses and vetiver oil from Haiti. A scent that can be worn by a man or woman.

Comment: Great product! Outstanding company! A real favorite of mine since I was a kid! My Godfather would often give me a product of 4711 for Christmas and my birthday! I strongly recommend this product! A great product for both men and women! Enjoy it!

Summary: Classic scent, totally clean and refreshing!
Comment: I fell in love with 4711 when I was an American GI in West Germany in the early '80's. I loved to hike, and would see trash from disposable towels (similar to wet ones or the "moist towelette" or the old Kentucky Fried Chicken wipes) tossed on the trails... many had the aqua/gold 4711 logo... I suppose the Germans loved to refresh and smell swell at the same time! Well, finally I investigated and LOVED the scent. It reminded me of "Florida Water" (if you're from FLA or of Afro-Carib descent you'll understand)... only a much better, higher perfume quality. I have used the soaps and cologne over the years... most recently to refresh in Iraq... wonderful product...

"4711" creme soaps are a delight with their subtle astringency and the scent of sandalwood with attar of roses. The box of three make a colorful & welcome gift.
It was the Muelhens family in Europe who launched this scent in 1792; in our family it is a fourth generation choice. In the summer Reviewer mcHAIKU particularly likes to use their cologne "splash" (B000217154) for its astringent wake-up call. In your powder room it can add a bright, European accent.
