Customer Rating: Summary: Great! Comment: I like this stuff. The gel formula is not too heavy and it leaves no oily residue. I have fairly thin hair, so a lot of times oily straightening balms or creams leave my hair weighed-down.....but not this one! Well worth it!
Customer Rating: Summary: Straightens and de-frizzes my wavy hair Comment: I have naturally frizzy wavy hair that looks thick. I actually think my hair is fine but I have so much of it that it looks thick, and the frizz makes it look even thicker. For years I've been looking for a product to tame the frizz and straighten my wavy locks, and I think I've finally found it.
A few months ago I read a magazine article recommending that women use clear shiny products on their hair instead of cloudy creams because the clear products will reflect light while the creams will just attract dirt. I'd been experimenting with different shine serums since reading that article but none of the ones I tried lived up to their claims.
Yesterday I went to a new hair stylist and told her that I usually straighten my wavy hair with a flat iron to reduce the frizz and make my hair shiny. She asked if I apply a gel or serum to my hair before ironing it, and I told her that I just use Frizz Ease in the shower as per the instructions. She recommended the Rene Furterer Fioravanti Straightening Gel and mixed it with some Match Shine Serum and applied the mixture to my wet hair. I had always assumed that hair gel made hair look stiff and crunchy, and I was skeptical when she applied it all over my hair. But I remembered the article about using clear products and I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. The stylist applied the gel/serum mixture to my hair and then blew my hair dry with a large round boar bristle brush. When she finished my hair was stick straight and super shiny. I think it looked like Jennifer Aniston's hair in the last season of Friends, except that my hair is dark brown. But I think the style and texture were the same and I was really impressed. Plus there was no annoying fragrance. I think the product itself has fragrance, but I can't detect it in my hair and I'm usually very sensitive to scents. I was so pleased with the way my hair looked that I bought both the Match shine serum and the Rene Furterer Fioravanti Straightening Gel.
This morning I was running late and didn't have time to blow dry my hair. I washed and conditioned my hair as usual and skipped the Frizz Ease serum, which never worked that well for me anyway. Then I just let my hair air dry. When my hair was half dry I rubbed the gel and shine serum between palms just as my stylist had done the day before, and I rubbed my palms over the length of my hair. I let my hair fully air dry and then brushed it. I couldn't believe how straight and shiny my hair looked. Normally when I air dry my hair it gets frizzy and wavy and looks generally awful. But this morning it looked nicer. I quickly straightened my hair with my flat iron and then rubbed on a bit more shine serum. My hair is almost as straight and shiny as it was yesterday and it has stayed this way all day. My hair is also so soft that I can't stop running my fingers through it. I'm also surprrised that my hair isn't tangled. Many styling products cause the hair to "stick" together resulting in tangles, but my hair is soft and not at all sticky. I can run my fingers through it without any resistance. It's been over six hours since I did my hair this morning and it still looks fantastic. So I highly recommend this combo of straightening gel and shine serum to all women with long, wavy, frizzy hair.
